Area S Marin/Redwood Creek
Topic Aquatic Invertebrates: Redwood Creek EPT Taxa 1995

Caption:  The Golden Gate National Recreation Area staff have collected aquatic invertebrate data from Redwood Creek. The results displayed show the number of species or taxa of mayflies (Ephemeroptera), stoneflies (Plecoptera), and caddisflies (Trichoptera) collected at several locations in August 1995. The total number of taxa of these orders, which are pollution intolerant, is known as the EPT Taxa. The results indicate that the community is more diverse in Muir Woods in the upper watershed and decrease progressively downstream. This is expected as water quality impairment and flow depletion are recognized problems in lower reaches and the upper watershed is almost undisturbed. Fern Creek is a tributary of Redwood Creek outside the park. See Info Links for more information.
