Aquatic Inverts: Percent Dominant Taxa Three Salmon Tribs Fall 1994 |

    |
Caption:  When few species comprise the bulk of the population of aquatic invertebrates, it generally reflects a disturbed ecosystem. Scores can be interpreted as follows: when one species comprises less than 20% of the population, the water quality has low impacts, 20-30% slight impacts, 30-40% moderate impacts, >40% high impacts. Data suggest that Butler Creek has outstanding water quality and watershed conditions. Somes and Grant creeks appear to have low/low-moderate impacts according to this index. Data were collected in 1994 by students at Forks of Salmon School as part of a macroinvertebrate environmental education project.
