Caption:  This chart shows the percent vegetative coverage on gravel bars of the Russian River in various reaches of the Alexander Valley above and below areas subject to gravel skimming operations. Data were pooled for two mined areas under examination. Gravel terraces had less vegetation below mining operations but differences among reach type were not statistically significant. The analysts generating these data found that there was at least a 70% chance that the tests did not detect an actual difference due to low sample size and high variation.
