Fish: Estuary Beach Seine Sample Totals 2000 |
|
Caption: This Chart shows the various species caught in the Russian River estuary using a beach seine from September to November 2000. The number of fish captured in 2000 was very similar to 1999 seine samples, but only 10 species were captured in 2000 while 14 were taken in 1999 (MSC, 2000). Sampling did not take place at Station 2 because of steep banks in flooded conditions and snags that prevent sampling after breaching. Threespine stickleback was the most abundant species in samples (51%) but topsmelt were also numerous (37%) and taken at all three stations. Only seven steelhead juveniles were captured in 2000. Data from Merritt Smith Consulting (2001) and Sonoma County. For more information, click on the InfoLinks tab.
