This seasonal dam has been controversial because of problems with fish passage. In response, Sonoma County acquired funds to build a fish ladder to facilitate fish migration at all flows. The boom downstream is the first step in setting up a coffer dam and beginning construction. Photo provided courtesy of the Sonoma County Water Agency.
With the coffer dam complete, construction workers begin use of a large crane to start to build the foundation for the new ladder. Photo provided courtesy of the Sonoma County Water Agency.

This photo shows the completed fish ladder looking upstream. This ladder not only provides access when the recreational dam is up but also past the rip rap that supports the dam during high or low flows. Photo provided courtesy of the Sonoma County Water Agency.
