Sediment: Fines <0.85 mm (SFT 9) Upper SF Ten Mile River 1993-2001 |
|
Caption: Percent fine sediment less than 0.85 mm from wet sieve McNeil bulk gravel samples in the Upper South Fork Ten Mile River (SFT9) are displayed above for the years 1993 to 2001. Two stations (riffles) in a study reach were sampled annually. Bars represent the average of four McNeil samples at a station and whiskers represent standard deviation and 95% confidence intervals. The range of fine sediment (<0.85 mm) was over levels know to negatively affect spawning salmonids only intermittently, although the range of all samples in 1994 and most in 2001 were over 14%. The reference value of 14% comes from the Ten Mile River TMDL and is derived from the literature regarding salmonid spawning habitat quality. Data provided by Hawthorne Timber Company.
